Sox interested in R.A. Dickey?

The Red Sox are far from set when it comes to their starting rotation, but at what cost would they revamp it on the fly?

Teams around the Sox are improving their staff, and there are still available pitchers out there that could help, but Lou Merloni on The Baseball Show says the only way you're really going to make an impact is through a trade.

One way to go about immediately fixing the issue would be to trade for R.A. Dickey, the Mets' NL Cy Young winner this season. Reports said that Ben Cherington had a discussion about Dickey with Mets GM Sandy Alderson, but what the Mets are asking for in return -- top prospects Jackie Bradley Jr. and Xander Bogaerts -- makes it far from a reality.

Dickey has had success in the past -- "He's 38 years old, but he's not exactly a one-year wonder," says Lou Merloni. "...Reports the Red Sox had no interest and maybe that report came out after the Red Sox had already heard that it was going to take Xander Bogaerts and Jackie Bradley Jr. You are absolutely not doing that deal for R.A. Dickey, a 38-year-old knuckleballer. I'm sorry, that cannot happen."
