There was no deal between the NHL and NHLPA on Tuesday night, but the long negotiation session which took place at an undisclosed location in New York City is a sign that the two sides are certainly looking to make it work.
At 9 p.m. ET, one NHL player inside that meeting said, "A deal won't be done tonight, but we're looking to have some traction."
When immediately asked just how much longer the meeting would last, that player said, "Probably, hopefully for a while. Nothing will get decided tonight though."
That meeting ended at approximately 10:45 p.m. ET, with no new CBA agreed upon. The two sides will resume talks sometime in the "late morning" on Wednesday, according to the player.
When asked where the two sides stand heading into those resumed talks on Wednesday, that player inside Tuesday's extended meeting said, "We are cautiously optimistic. Hope to keep the positive coming."
