Celtics lose fourth straight, 97-83 to Pacers

INDIANAPOLISNew venue with a new name, but it's still the same old - and we do mean old - Boston Celtics.

The Indiana Pacers closed out the first quarter with a furious run and never looked back in handing the Celtics a 97-83 defeat at the Bankers Life (formerly called Conseco) Fieldhouse.

Indiana (9-3) was led by Danny Granger's team-high 21 points.

Boston (4-7) has now lost four in a row, and their overall record hasn't been this bad to start a season since 2006 - the year before Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett came aboard.

The problems on Saturday weren't all that different than the problems that have plagued the C's all season.

After playing well for most of the first quarter, the Pacers capped the quarter off with a 10-0 run and led, 29-24 after the first.

From there, Indiana pulled ahead by as many as 13 in the second before settling on a 56-48 halftime lead.

The third quarter was more of the same as Indiana's control only increased. One of the few positives for Boston was the scoring of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett who each finished with 21 points.

But the poor finish in the first, continued problems rebounding the ball and a rotation that has little to no chemistry, were all factors that ultimately sealed the Celtic's fate.
