The Boston Celtics are still trying to figure out how to finalize their deal with Gordon Hayward. They've yet to find a solution.
They need to clear cap space, and they continued to explore their options into Thursday night. Boston's sign-and-trade discussions with the Utah Jazz have halted, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The two teams had discussed a deal which would send Jae Crowder to Utah and Hayward to Boston. The Celtics have instead pursued trade options around the NBA by shopping Crowder, Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart.

Hayward agreed to a four-year deal with the Celtics worth $128 million. He announced his decision to join the team on Tuesday amid interest from the Miami Heat and his former team, the Jazz. However, this salary cap hiccup has stalled the consummation of the process. The Celtics cannot proceed without moving one of the three players their shopping. Some have speculated they may part with two or three of those players in the near future.
