The Celtics are taking a cautious approach with Jaylen Brown, who injured his thigh Tuesday. He could be shut down for the rest of summer league, MassLive.com reported.
Brown took a knee to the thigh from Philadelphia’s Jonah Bolden while contesting a layup in the 88-83 victory over the 76ers in Las Vegas. The Celtics start the summer league playoffs Thursday and coach Brad Stevens told reporters that Brown “better be 110 percent [healthy]. Otherwise, you won’t see him Thursday.”
Brown, who'll enter his second NBA season in the fall after being the No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 draft, tried to stay in the game but left the court limping and didn’t return.
“I'm in a lot of pain right now and it's pretty locked up,” Brown said after the game. "Yeah, it started tightening up on me. I tried to get it back loose, but the more I stood still the more it was tightening up, so I tried to check myself back in. Then somebody from higher up pulled me out."
Brown averaged 10.3 points. 5.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in three summer league games.
