Former Celtic Walter McCarty's Evansville Purple Aces upset No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats

Former Celtics player and assistant coach Walter McCarty's Evansville Purple Aces pulled off the impossible on Tuesday night.

McCarty, who was hired as Evansville head coach last year, led his team to a crazy 67-64 victory over No. 1 ranked Kentucky. Evansville was a 25-point underdog.

To make the improbable victory even more special, McCarty coincidentally was an NCAA champion with Kentucky back in 1996. He and his players rightfully celebrated the epic win in style:

It doesn't get much better than that.

And of course, it would be remiss of us to celebrate McCarty without including one of NBC Sports Boston's own Tommy Heinsohn's most notable calls:

Don’t miss NBC Sports Boston's coverage of Celtics-Wizards, which tips off Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. ET with Celtics Pregame Live, and then Mike & Tommy have the call of the game at 7:30 p.m. You can also stream the game through the MyTeams App.
