We're now halfway through the regular season and the Red Sox - who had been sizable underdogs to start the year - are finally the betting favorites in the American League East at PointsBet. But on a larger scale, the Sox still have plenty of respect to gain when looking at the odds to win the World Series where they're still behind the struggling Yankees.

Let's start with the division, where the Red Sox started the season with the fourth-best odds at +2000. The Sox bottomed out at +3500 after being swept by the Orioles in their opening series. But since then, they've made a steady climb to the top and are now -110 to win the division.

Boston was actually still behind Tampa Bay at the beginning of the week, but the Rays - following three straight losses - are +200, followed by the Blue Jays (+500) and the reeling Yankees (+700). New York actually started the season as the heaviest divisional favorite in the American League at -304.

WORLD SERIES

It's been a meteoric rise for the Red Sox, who began the year at +5000. Just a week ago, Boston was still +2200. It comes as no surprise, but the Los Angeles Dodgers remain the favorites at +350.

REGULAR SEASON WINS
Those of you who kept it simple and went after the OVER for the Red Sox win total loved the first half of the season. PointsBet put Boston's number at 79.5, just under .500. The Sox are well past that projection with a pace of 100 wins.
Following Thursday's sweep of the Royals, Boston needs to go just 29-51 the rest of the way. For reference, only the Baltimore Orioles were unable to win 29 games in the first half of the season.
