Many Boston athletes have won the most valuable player award in their respective sports, and Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts is the newest member of that club.
Betts won the 2018 American League MVP award on Thursday night. He batted .346 with 32 home runs and 80 RBI for a Red Sox team that won 108 regular-season games and ultimately claimed their fourth World Series championship of the century.
The Red Sox outfielder is the team's first MVP winner since Dustin Pedroia in 2008.
