The Boston Red Sox are in for an interesting offseason when it comes to their managerial situation.
The current manager, John Farrell, is currently away from the team with an illness and may or may not return to the team.
Interim manager Torey Lovullo has made a case for a managerial coaching position filling in for Farrell.
Red Sox Insider Sean McAdam says outside interest in Lovullo could expedite the process for Dave Dombrowski and the Red Sox.
"There are going to be teams that come to the Red Sox and ask for permission to speak to Torey Lovullo," said McAdam. "I'm not sure there's going to be a stampede. I think he's done a terrific job in the 40 or so games that he has managed and he has certainly improved his resume and lifted his profile."
