Kyrie Irving, Nike probably could've timed their new sneaker announcement better

Kyrie Irving and Nike probably could've picked a better day for the announcement of his new Kyrie 5 "Friends" sneaker and gear line.

Considering the Celtics guard was thoroughly bashed on social media and talking head sports TV by former players and fans alike the morning after his 7-for-22 shooting performance in the loss that pushed Boston to the brink of elimination against the Bucks and snapped off a "Who cares?" answer to a question about his shooting woes, it's safe to say that there were plenty who wouldn't be buying anything Irving was selling Tuesday morning.

Yet, around 10 a.m. came the tweet from Nike trumpeting the new Kyrie "Friends" line, inspired, of course, by the '90s sitcom about a bunch of young, hip New York City-dwellers (listening, Knicks?).

From Nike's press release:

“While the relationships with his teammates on the court make him one of the best floor generals in the game today, it’s his friendships off the court that have kept Kyrie focused and grounded during his rise. Along with a few of his closest friends, Kyrie dons a “Friends” tattoo inspired by the logo of the hit sitcom show that serves as a daily reminder of loyalty and camaraderie. The Kyrie 5 x Friends colorway celebrates Kyrie’s tight-knit circle and the belief that real friendship will always withstand the test of time and hardship.”

Um, sure. Maybe Kyrie's teammates "will help him pack" his new "Friends" gear this summer?

The tweet, no doubt, left a lot of disappointed C's fans saying, "Who cares?"
