BOSTONFor years, Kevin Garnett has been a player who delivered whatever was needed, in order for his team to have a shot at winning.
That mentality is alive and well as Garnett was among the many key performers in Boston's 89-70 win over New Jersey on Wednesday.
Although he had 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, Garnett also made a number of strong plays defensively as well as set up teammates for scores.
"I do a number of things," Garnett said. "You say 'Ray, he shoots 3s.' Paul's our leader; he scores the basketball.
Garnett added, "I'm one of those X-factors. You need me to score, I can score. You need me to play defense, I can play defense. I'm like the glue here. You need an extra pass, that's what it is."
Celtics Nation has seen how life without Garnett, can be.
After winning it all in 2008, the C's chances at a repeat the following year were derailed by a knee injury to Garnett.

The C's didn't make it past the second round of the playoffs that year.
Health is certainly a big issue with all the Celtics, but especially with Garnett whose playing time has been limited some.
Helping keep his minutes on track will be Brandon Bass, who has done a really good job of filling in for Garnett and occasionally playing some at center.
But if Garnett weren't playing particularly well, you can bet he would hear something from his teammates.
"We praise each other, but at the same time we push each other," Garnett said.
