Patrice Bergeron (upper body) banged up in OT loss to the Stars

A Bruins team that’s already missing half of their regular D-men corps to injuries might have suffered another big injury on Friday night.

Patrice Bergeron missed time in the second period after a scary collision with Radek Faksa saw Bergeron’s left shoulder and head get driven into the side boards as both players fell to the ice. Bergeron gamely returned to the game and ended up playing 13 minutes of ice time in the 1-0 overtime loss while forgoing taking face-offs once he did get back into the game. It looked pretty clearly like Bergeron was playing with discomfort once he did return to the game, and that the left shoulder area appeared to be giving him a great deal of pain.

The good news is that Bergeron once again showed his trademark toughness by sticking it out through the game while pretty clearly banged up. The bad news is that the Bruins are playing on the road against the Arizona Coyotes again on Saturday night in back-to-back road games, and it would be surprising if No. 37 is able to answer the bell again for that one. Bergeron finished with two shots on net, three giveaways and lost 8-of-14 face-offs while gutting it out with the Black and Gold in a losing effort that still got them a point.
