BOSTON -- The hits just keep on coming for the Boston Bruins, and these aren’t the good kind.
Brad Marchand was forced to leave Saturday night’s 4-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens midway through the third period after suffering a blow to the head.
The Bruins agitator caught an incidental elbow to the side of his head from Dale Weise as, the Montreal energy forward tried to avoid a diving Patrice Bergeron.
Marchand was immediately wobbly after taking the hit, and had to be helped off the ice by his teammates as he skated toward the Bruins bench.
The Bruins left winger never returned to the ice, and Claude Julien said there was no update on him right after the game.
“Nothing [on his status] because it happened late in the game,” said Julien. “I haven’t even had an opportunity to talk to anybody about him.”
While there’s no official diagnosis, Marchand has already suffered at least one diagnosed concussion in his NHL career when Anton Volchenkov caught him with an elbow to the head towards the end of the 2013 season.
