Former Bruin Willie O’Ree talks with Anson Carter on NBC Sports about the attack on The Capitol building in Washington, D.C. on January 6th

Willie O'Ree has made a tremendous impact on the sport of hockey as the first Black player in NHL history.

O'Ree broke the league's color barrier when he made his debut for the Boston Bruins on Jan. 18, 1958.

The B's announced earlier this month that they will retire his No. 22 to the rafters at TD Garden on Feb. 18, 2020.

Monday is the Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the 63rd anniversary of O'Ree's first game. NBC Sports analyst Anson Carter recently caught up with O'Ree for the season premiere of Hockey Culture.

They engaged in a wide-ranging conversation on several topics, including the events at the United States Capitol Building on Jan. 6.
