Bruins new guys on ice for optional morning skate

BOSTON – The Bruins held an optional morning skate on Tuesday at TD Garden with the Calgary Flames coming into the building for a good, old-fashioned out-of-conference game.

Lee Stempniak, Noel Acciari, Jimmy Hayes, David Pastrnak, Landon Ferraro, Tyler Randell, Brett Connolly and Ryan Spooner represented the forwards, Jonas Gustavsson was the lone goaltender on the ice and all eight Bruins defensemen were on the ice as well. One would suspect that means Tuukka Rask will be getting the start for the B’s against the Flames knowing that Boston needs the full two points in one of the easier games they have coming up on the schedule.

Either way, new acquisitions John-Michael Liles and Stempniak are excited to get things going for their new team with 19 games remaining in the season.

“I’m really excited. It’s an Original Six franchise, and it’s something special playing for a team like that…and a team with a lot of playoff experience,” said Stempniak. “I’m excited for this stretch run.”

Here are the projected Bruins line combos and D-pairings against the Flames, in Dougie Hamilton's Boston homecoming, based on our best guess as to what the new-look B’s will do with their personnel:

Eriksson-Krejci-Pastrnak
Marchand-Bergeron-Stempniak
Beleskey-Spooner-Hayes
Ferraro-Acciari-Connolly

Chara-K. Miller
Liles-Seidenberg
Krug-McQuaid

Rask
