Tom Brady offers message of encouragement to Kevin Durant after injury

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady knows a little bit about what Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant is going through right now.

Durant had surgery Wednesday for a ruptured Achilles injury suffered early in Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals on Monday night. The injury likely will keep KD out for most, if not all, of the 2019-20 season.

Brady also has suffered a significant injury in his career. The six-time Super Bowl champion tore his ACL in Week 1 of the 2008 NFL season and didn't return until the following year. Brady offered words of encouragement for Durant with a comment on Warriors star's latest Instagram post.

The Warriors will resume their NBA Finals series against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night. Golden State trails 3-2 in the series, but the Game 6 atmposhere at Oracle Arena -- which will be the last ever game at the building before the team moves into a new one next season -- could give the two-time defending champions the emotional lift needed to force a Game 7 back in Toronto.
