The Patriots and Bill Belichick usually like to promote coaches from within their own program, but this time around it might be an outsider landing the vacant defensive coordinator gig.

Former Rutgers and Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano is expected to be interview after the season, according to a source close to Gary Tanguay.

Schiano was recently named the head coach at the University of Tennesse, but the offer was taken off the table after backlash from their fans.

During the controversy, Belichick said he '100%' believes in Schiano as a man and coach. Belichick's son Stephen played under Schiano as a long snapper in college. They also held joint practices when Schiano was the head coach for the Bucs.
