Thomas gets third straight start for B's

MONTREAL -- Tim Thomas will get the start for the Boston Bruins and oppose Carey Price for the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre for the sixth and final meeting of the HabsBruins rivalry for this season.

Thomas is coming off a 17-save effort in a 3-0 shutout loss to the New York Rangers on Tuesday night at TD Garden, and its a bit of head-scratcher that the 37-year-old is playing both ends of a back-to-back this deep into the season. Especially after Thomas also backstopped the Bruins to their 4-3 shootout win over the Nashville Predators last weekend.

So Tuukka Rask sits after getting pulled vs. the Buffalo Sabres a week earlier on Feb. 8 and is currently riding a four-game losing streak, and Thomas continues a perfectly mediocre month of February thats seen him go 2-2 with a 2.55 goals against average and a .904 save percentage. One has to wonder where Rask's formerly high confidence is at this point.

Here is the projected Bs lineup with some pretty interesting drama coming out of Montreal with Scott Gomez and Andrei Kostitsyn battling with the Habs coaching staff right now:

Marchand-Bergeron-Seguin
Lucic-Krejci-Peverley
Pouliot-Kelly-Caron
Paille-Campbell-Thornton

Chara-Boychuk
Seidenberg-Corvo
Ference-McQuaid

Thomas
Rask
