Joba Chamberlain should have asked Bobby Valentine how sensitive Kevin Youkilis can be sometimes.

Chamberlain called Youkilis -- with whom he's had his on-field differences in the past -- to bury the hatchet after Youk signed as a free agent with the Yankees. But he says Youkilis has yet to return his calls.

"I did everything I can do," Chamberlain told the New York Daily News. "I can't control what Kevin Youkilis does. I can only control what I do and, you know what, we'll go on from there."

Youk gave the same silent treatment to Valentine after Bobby V. questioned his dedication and effort in an April TV interview; their frosty relationship continued right up to the day Youkilis was traded to the White Sox in June. Considering their longer history -- it seemed Chamberlain threw at Youkilis every time the Red Sox and Yankees played, and Chamberlain was once suspended two games for throwing at Youk's head -- a quick thaw was unlikely.

But Chamberlain seemed unconcerned.

"Im bound to run into him at some point. Sooner rather than later. Well see what happens. Were grown men.
