Lou Merloni and John Tomase debate who Alex Cora and the Red Sox should turn to as their closer in the postseason. Is one of the team’s relievers up to the task or should Cora turn to one of his starters like in 2018?

Alex Verdugo came through when the Boston Red Sox needed him most Sunday in Game 162 vs. the Washington Nationals.

With a Wild Card spot on the line, Verdugo smacked a two-run double to tie the game at five in the seventh inning.

Boston had trailed 5-1, but RBI singles from Christian Vazquez and Rafael Devers helped set the stage for Verdugo's clutch moment.

Verdugo's idol, Red Sox legend David Ortiz, shared his awesome reaction to the big hit on Twitter.

With a victory Sunday, Boston would avoid Game 163 and host the Wild Card game.
