STAR OF THE GAME: Eduardo Rodriguez
Coming off a poor start at home against Baltimore, when he seemed to be tipping pitches, Rodriguez rebounded nicely, giving the Red Sox six innings while allowing a single run. Rodriguez has given up a single run or no runs in five of his first seven big league starts.
HONORABLE MENTION: Alexi Ogando
With few other options in the bullpen, Ogando was called upon to get four big outs against four righthanders and got Josh Donaldson (to end the seventh), then Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion and Chris Colabello in the eighth.
GOAT OF THE GAME: Marco Estrada
Estrada self-destructed in the first inning, issuing four walks -- two with the bases loaded -- to give the Red Sox a 2-0 head start before they could manage a hit. He later yielded solo homers to Jackie Bradley Jr. and David Ortiz, all inside the first three innings.
TURNING POINT: Ogando's work in the eighth, with the Sox clinging to a one-run lead, was positively huge.
Boston Red Sox
BY THE NUMBERS: Ortiz's homer was his seventh in the last 19 games
