Have the Boston Red Sox found their middle infielder of the future?

That remains to be seen, but Trevor Story at least sounds excited to be here.

The new Red Sox second baseman, who signed a six-year, $140 million contract with Boston last month, made his mindset very clear Thursday in a social media post ahead of the team's 2022 regular season opener Friday against the Yankees in New York.

"Next Chapter, BOSTON! This is where I belong. LFG," Story wrote, using a three-letter acronym popularized by a certain former New England Patriots quarterback.

Tomase: Trevor Story thrilled to be joining Red Sox' 'sick' lineup

Story's post came after a farewell message to the Colorado Rockies, who selected the Texas native in the 2011 MLB Draft and employed him for six major-league seasons. Story was an excellent shortstop for Colorado, earning two All-Star nods and amassing 158 home runs and 450 RBIs from 2016 to 2021.

The 29-year-old will shift to second base this season to allow Xander Bogaerts to remain at shortstop, but Bogaerts can opt out and become a free agent after the season. So, if the Red Sox decide to part ways with Bogaerts, Story could move back to shortstop in 2023.

In any case, Story certainly seems committed to the Red Sox long-term -- both contractually and philosophically.
