MLB trade rumors: Madison Bumgarner drawing interest from Phillies, Brewers

Madison Bumgarner is a San Francisco Giants legend after helping deliver three World Series titles to the franchise, but his career might not conclude in the Bay Area.

The 29-year-old starter is drawing interest on the trade market from at least two National League teams, per Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.

"Multiple sources indicated Monday that the Giants are willing to engage with other teams about the possibility of dealing their ace and three-time World Series champion," Morosi wrote Monday. "The Brewers and Phillies are among the teams that have had at least preliminary dialogue about trading for Bumgarner, sources say."

The Brewers came so close to reaching the 2018 World Series, losing in Game 7 of the NLCS to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Adding a player of Bumgarner's caliber could be the final piece to their championship puzzle.

The Phillies have long been a team expected to make major improvements in free agency, but they do have the assets to make a blockbuster trade for someone like Bumgarner. Philadelphia certainly is on the right track -- its 80 wins in 2018 were the team's highest total since 2012.

Bumgarner had an up-and-down 2018, finishing with a 6-7 record, a 3.26 ERA and 109 strikeouts in 21 starts. He's signed through the 2019 season at a team-friendly salary of $12 million.
