AJ Pollock home run snaps impressive streak for David Price

David Price got off to an unfortunate start against the Dodgers Sunday night, and little of it was his fault.

A Xander Bogaerts error in the first inning kept the Red Sox on the field longer than necessary, and then AJ Pollock snuck a three-run home run behind Pesky's Pole to LA an early 3-0 lead.

According to the Red Sox, Pollock's home run snapped a streak of 147 consecutive batters who failed to take Price deep. The last home run the lefty gave up was on June 2nd to Yankees first baseman Luke Voit.

What makes it even more unfortunate for Price is that Pollock's homer probably would have been a pop out in any other circumstance. According to Red Sox stats, the ball had a projected batting average of .034.

Price has been Boston's most reliable starting pitcher in 2019 with a 7-2 record and 3.24 ERA entering Sunday. You hate to see errors and weak home runs put good pitchers in rough spots, but Price has demonstrated the ability to consistently get batters out.
