The first-place New England Revolution will have representation on the US men's national team when World Cup qualifying begins next month.

Goalkeeper Matt Turner, the MVP of Wednesday's MLS All-Star Game, will join the team prior to the beginning of its CONCACAF qualifying match at El Salvador on Sept. 2, the team announced Thursday.

The 27-year-old Turner will be making his seventh appearance with the USMNT, for which he is yet to allow a goal in 416 minutes of play since making his international debut in a friendly against Trinidad and Tobago on Jan. 31.

Gold Cup champion Matt Turner's unlikely rise to stardom

Turner had said earlier this month that he hoped he'd be able to continue representing his country.

"That rush, that feeling is such an honor," he said.

For the 2021 season, Turner has compiled an 11-2-4 record for the Revolution with four clean sheets and a .753 save percentage.

Ethan Horvath and Zack Steffen, who play for Nottingham Forest and Manchester City, respectively, in the English Premier League are the other two goalies currently listed on the American roster. Team USA will also face Canada at home and Honduras on the road in the qualifying round.

The Revolution return to action Saturday against NYC FC at Yankee Stadium.

It's been a busy month of accolades for Turner, who also hurled a laser for a strike while throwing out the first pitch at Fenway Park a few weeks back.
