After he received his visa, Argentinian forward Gustavo Bou will likely make his MLS debut for the New England Revolution on Wednesday. Soon, Revs fans will find out just what type of player New England paid top-dollar for.
Until then, you'll just have to take his word for it:
"I'm really a player that likes to move in between spaces up front," Bou told Revolution reporter Elizabeth Pehota through an interpreter. "I'm a player that likes to be in constant contact with the ball, either making runs or helping teams fit in balls through their runs."
On Tuesday, the Revs posted a video on Twitter of Bou training at Gillette Stadium and getting acclimated to his new teammates. Revs forward Teal Bunbury predicts Bou is going to be a "special player" for New England. Most recently, Bou scored 21 goals and recorded 14 assists in 55 matches with Club Tijuana.
Goalkeeper Matt Porter reiterated Bou's assessment and endearingly called him a "big personality."
"He's really fit in well with the guys already, and you see his quality on the pitch," Porter said. "He's a guy that wants to be in front of the goal, he wants to score, and just bringing an intensity to the game that's going to help us."
Bou is expected to debut on Wednesday against Vancouver. The upcoming match will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Boston at 7 p.m. ET.
