There was a Carles Gil sighting TuesdayĀ in Foxboro as the midfielder returned to the New England Revolution Training Center to continue his rehab.

While it's undoubtedly encouraging to see Gil running, head coach Bruce Arena noted it'll still take some time before the captain is ready to rejoinĀ the Revs lineup. However, Arena did not rule out a return this season.
"We will see where heās at. Our expectations right now are that heās not going to be available for a while," Arena told reporters on Tuesday. "We have not yet seen him on the field, so any thoughts of him being on the field shortly are probably not accurate. But weāll see how heās progressing, and hopefully he could return in 2020.ā
Full Revs schedule for rest of 2020
Adding Gil back into the lineup obviously would provide a major boost to a club that has struggled offensively in 2020. Last season, Gil tallied 10 goals and 14 assists en route to winning MLS Newcomer of the Year honors.
Fellow midfielder Diego Fagundez emphasized the importance of Gil's return to the Revs facility.
āI think itās huge. Weāve all been in contact with him and weāve seen what heās been doing," Fagundez said. "He went back home, did some treatment and some rehab, and heās doing well. Now we just have to slowly get him prepared for training.
"Hopefully, if we can get on the field before the year ends thatād be great. But if not, we have other guys to step up. Now we just have to make sure that heās ready and weāre all ready for whatās to come.ā
