WATCH: Zdeno Chara gets standing ovation from Bruins crowd

Over the course of the Boston Bruins' last road trip, Zdeno Chara played in the 1,500th game of his NHL career. He got a nice ovation from the Montreal Canadiens faithful during his 1,500th game against the Bruins' arch-rival.

But upon his return home, he got an even bigger ovation.

During the Bruins' home game against the Philadelphia Flyers, his 1,502nd career game, Chara was recognized by the TD Garden crowd. Unsurprisingly, he got a standing ovation that can be seen here via the Boston Bruins Twitter account.

This reception was well-deserved for the team's 42-year-old captain who has long been a force on the defensive end for the squad.

Chara is in his 14th season with the Bruins and has logged 472 points and 1,745 hits during his time with the Bruins. He has done a lot to create a consistent winning culture in Boston and it's safe to say that his No. 33 will be raised to the rafters whenever he decides to hang up his skates.
