Thursday, March 31: Wheeler knows what Vesey's going through

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while proud of Toucher and Rich for raising another $100,000 along with the Bruins at this spring’s Cuts for a Cause event raising money for the Children’s Floating Hospital.

*Interesting perspective from Blake Wheeler about the Jimmy Vesey situation given he was the NCAA pioneer of eschewing the original NHL team that drafted him.

*Speaking of Vesey, FOH (Friend of Haggs) Kirk Luedeke hops on with Edmonton radio to discuss the situation in detail. I still say it’s the Maple Leafs or the Bruins that get him, which has been my sentiment for the last few days.

*I can confirm that Tyler Seguin’s days of being into Justin Bieber go back to when the Bieber movie came out while Seguin was a member of the Bruins. I’m pretty sure they’re from the same area of Ontario, so I’m surprised they’re not good buddies at this point.

*Bruce Arthur writes a strong piece saying that the NHL has been hindered by “old school” hockey thinking. I believe that part of what people love about the NHL is that “old school” hockey thinking, however, so be careful what you wish for.

*Tracey Myers wants to know how long Duncan Keith will be suspended for swinging a stick at Charlie Coyle’s face? My answer: a long, long time.

*Speaking of all of the NHL emails that are surfacing, it looks like a couple of NHL owners sent emails to Gary Bettman concerned about the concussion situation.

*For something completely different: while I don’t feel this strongly about Superman’s depiction in the new DC movies, I do agree that it seems like Zack Snyder really doesn’t like the traditional Superman character very much at all.
