One of those two victories actually came last year when the Bruins hosted the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 2 of the 2019 Eastern Conference Final at TD Garden. Boston scored two goals in each period en route to a 6-2 win to take a 2-0 series lead. Bruins defenseman Matt Grzelcyk led the way with two goals.

The Bruins eventually eliminated the Hurricanes in a sweep before losing to the St. Louis Blues in a seven-game Stanley Cup Final series.

The other Bruins win on May 12 was another victory over the Hurricanes. Carolina had a chance to eliminate Boston on home ice in Game 6 of the 2009 Eastern Conference Semifinals, but the Bruins won 4-2 to force a decisive Game 7 at the Garden. Unfortunately for the Bruins, they lost the series in overtime of that Game 7.

Included in the eight Bruins losses on this date are two defeats each to the Philadelphia Flyers, New Jersey Devils and Montreal Canadiens.
