How does one define greatness?
The Bruins adjust their “spoked B” in 1962 to feature a gold B with black spokes, a reversal. Former owner Weston Adams repurchases the team, and signs a defenseman from Parry Sound, Ontario.
Number 4, Bobby Orr goes on to become one of the greatest in hockey history. But it takes an entire team and mentality to make up what becomes known as the Big Bad Bruins. While wearing the “spoked B”, these Bruins win the Stanley Cup in 1970. The image of Bobby Orr flying through the air to win it in overtime is burned into the minds of every Bostonian, and one day, cast as a statue outside the Garden.
Orr is recognized this season with his 3rd of eight Norris Trophies, the Art Ross, Conn Smythe, and Hart.
How does one define greatness? Is it an attitude? Is it recognition? Why not both?
