The 2019 NHL All-Star jerseys are out, and they're … interesting

The NHL has rolled out some pretty colorful All-Star Game jerseys in recent years.

This is not one of those years.

The official jerseys for the 2019 NHL All-Star Game were released Wednesday, and here's what they look like, courtesy of the "Icethetics" Twitter account:

And here's a close-up of the Boston Bruins' jersey:

No, the ink didn't run out on the NHL's printers. These jerseys really are black and white.

We should note there's a noble reason behind the grayscale color scheme: These are the first NHL jerseys ever to be made from repurposed and up-cycled marine plastic debris as part of an effort to raise awareness about ocean pollution.

Still, these jerseys don't exactly inspire much excitement.

As of now, David Pastrnak will be the only Boston Bruins player rocking these threads at San Jose's SAP Center on Jan. 26. Patrice Bergeron could join Pastrnak as a "Last Man In" candidate, although he doesn't sound too thrilled about the opportunity.
