Source: Pastrnak's camp not impressed with either offer from Bruins

David Pastrnak remains a restricted free agent, with progress in negotiations on his next deal slower than either side could have hoped.

The Boston Globe reported on Sunday that the Bruins had a seven-year offer out to Pastrnak. According to a source familiar with the negotiations, that offer came at the same time as a previously reported six-year, $36 million offer that was made earlier in the summer. The B’s gave Pastrnak his choice of either a six-year deal or a seven-year deal, both of which would carry a $6 million average annual value.

MORE PASTRNAK

Neither offer impressed Pastrnak’s side, especially the seven-year one. Such a deal would buy out three years of unrestricted free agency; as such, teams signing players off their entry level deals to longterm deals often pay more in AAV to get the extra year. Pastrnak’s group considers the extra year at the same cap hit to be way below market value.

As of Monday afternoon, the Bruins had not made another offer to Pastrnak since the aforementioned proposal. Both sides continue to prioritize getting a longterm deal done rather than a bridge contract.
