The Bruins are preparing for their final few days of Stanley Cup reminiscing and celebrations before the regular season is upon them, and that includes the presentation of their Stanley Cup rings at tonights team dinner. The rings, created by Jostens, will be unveiled during the team dinner at the Boston Harbor Hotel on Tuesday night, and set off a run of three straight days of winding up toward Thursday nights banner-raising even prior to puck drop against the Philadelphia Flyers.
A Bruins source indicated that departed Bs team members Michael Ryder, Mark Recchi and Sheriff Shane Hnidy would all be attending the dinner and ring ceremony along with the rest of the returning members of the Cup-winning hockey club.
A shipment of personalized boxes containing the championship rings arrived at the Boston Harbor Hotel via armored car at 4:00 p.m., and the Bruins players themselves, the coaching staff and management will arrive to the hotel at approximately 5:30 p.m. for a walk down the red carpet from the Boston Harbor Hotel archway into the function hall where the dinner will take place.
The dinner itself will be closed off to the media and the public, but the Bruins are expecting plenty of curious onlookers when they walk out of the Harbor Hotel with the new bling on their fingers.
While the Bruins know they have a new season full of challenges awaiting them, the ring presentation and the banner-raising await over the next few days as a nice chapter-ender to last years magnificent Cup run. The celebration doesnt leave much in the way of questions in the mind of other Bs officials about the motivation level for this years club after climbing the Lord Stanley mountaintop last spring.
When you get the taste of winning its a pretty good taste, said Bruins President Cam Neely. Weve got a good group of guys with great character and a fairly young group that isnt tired of winning yet. I think our future both for this season and for years to come bodes very well for us.
The day after the players receive their championship rings, Bruins season ticket holders and fans will have the opportunity to purchase pieces from the Boston Bruins Stanley Cup Championship Season Ticket Holder and Fan Collections. The 25-piece collections, which include watches, pendants, cufflinks and rings, will go on-sale on Wednesday, October 5.
