Bruins center and Quebec native Patrice Bergeron said after Monday morning practice with the Bruins that he hoped to play Tuesday night in the preseason game against the Habs in Quebec City, and it looks like he will get that chance. Not only that, but it appears that Torey Krug (shoulder) and David Krejci (hip) will make their preseason debuts after long summers of rehabbing offseason surgeries with the hope for both players to be ready on opening night.
Claude Julien said following Monday’s practice that things are trending in the right direction for the veterans returning from injury, and that’s especially good news for Krug after his initial recovery timetable from labrum surgery could have pushed into late October.
“They have to [play in the preseason]. They are so close that we will see them [in the preseason]. Both of them are tracking in the right direction, so unless there’s any kind of setback I think we’re doing okay with them,” said Julien. “You want to see some different combinations. I want the best 13 forwards on my team to start the season. I’m not necessarily so concerned about line combinations. There are still some decisions to be made. I know you guys are seeing the same things we are with regard to guys having good camps: Czarnik, Heinen and Kuraly has been good. There are a lot of guys that have been impressive, and we’re really open to see what is best for our hockey club, and if those [young] guys can fill any of those roles.”
They are all part of a veteran-heavy B’s group traveling to the brand new Videotron Center for the exhibition against the Canadiens with only three games remaining on the preseason schedule for the Black and Gold. Here is the game night roster for the Bruins for Tuesday’s game in Quebec City with the caveat that not everybody is going to play on a 23-man roster traveling to Quebec’s capital city for the neutral site game: Noel Acciari, David Backes, Matt Beleskey, Patrice Bergeron, Zdeno Chara, Austin Czarnik, Jake DeBrusk, Christian Ehrhoff, Jimmy Hayes, Danton Heinen, David Krejci, Torey Krug, Brad Marchand, Adam McQuaid, Colin Miller, Kevan Miller, Rob O’Gara, David Pastrnak, Tyler Randell, Tuukka Rask, Tim Schaller, Ryan Spooner and Malcolm Subban.
