Patrice Bergeron (lower-body injury) to miss Bruins' season-opener

BRIGHTON, Mass. -- It might be time to start getting a little nervous about Patrice Bergeron.

The Bruins' franchise center was missing from the team's final tune-up at Warrior Ice Arena prior to leaving for Thursday's season-opener in Columbus. Above and beyond that, Bergeron also didn’t speak to the assembled media at Bruins Media Day on Tuesday. So it wasn’t a surprise when the B’s announced that Bergeron won’t be making the trip to Columbus after suffering a lower body injury, and likely won’t be available for the games vs. Toronto and Winnipeg as well.

Tim Schaller was on the ice with the team after being waived and sent to Providence Bruins training camp a couple of days ago and Austin Czarnik was skating on line rushes after previously been in the concussion protocol following the high, late and dirty hit Radko Gudas clobbered him with last weekend.

Here are the line combos and D-pairings at Wednesday’s practice with no Bergeron, Kevan Miller or Adam McQuaid on the ice, though McQuaid did skate on his own prior to the main group on Wednesday morning:
