Morning Skate: How's Marchand look with that '70s haircut?

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while wishing Carl Yastrzemski a happy 79th birthday.

*Back by popular demand is the Bardown vintage hockey card treatment for today’s NHL stars with Brad Marchand getting some viciously cool sideburns. Marchand actually looks perfect with the '70s 'do while Taylor Hall looks like something out of the movie "Kingpin."

*Eric Lindros wants to take actual physical body-checking out of the NHL because he still has fun playing in a beer league with no hitting rules. Well, that’s great for Lindros, but with all due respect, nobody is paying to watch his beer league play. Concussions are clearly a problem, but removing hard contact from the game isn’t the answer.

*Carey Price doesn’t sound too impressed with some of the planned changes for goaltender chest protectors.

*This story about Joe Murphy is a pretty sobering one given that he was on top of the hockey world in the mid-1980s.

*Here’s a pretty cool jersey put out by the Durham Bulls for their “Hockey Night” where they paid tribute to the Carolina Hurricanes. There’s still a few available to purchase.
