Morning Skate: Best wishes to Eddie Olczyk

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading while highly recommending the Dinosaur Place in Connecticut. It's a great place for kids.

*Here’s wishing for the best for class act and NBC color analyst Eddie Olczyk as he undergoes treatment for colon cancer. We’re all pulling for you, Edzo. For those that haven’t had the pleasure, Eddie O. is one of the true gentlemen that you meet in the NHL circuit.

*The New York Islanders have signed Stephen Gionta to a one-year, two-way deal for the next season while his brother Brian continues to go unsigned late into the summer.

*Fresh off back-to-back Stanley Cups, how does Sidney Crosby measure up to the rest of the all-time greats at the age of 30 years old.

*There is plenty of outrage and dismay about the NHL’s decision to boycott the 2018 Winter Olympics, but I gave up hope on this one a long time ago. It was just never going to make business sense given how far away South Korea is, and how the TV marketing aspect of it, from a league perspective, was never going to materialize given the odd hours of the actual games.

*Speaking of which, here is the ever-qoutable Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk saying that the door is closed on NHL players in the upcoming Olympics

*For something completely different: Good piece on Donald Glover with some details about his sit-down with Billy Dee Williams prior to taking on the Lando Calrissian role.
