McAvoy ‘excited' Lindholm signed with Bruins long-term

Charlie McAvoy is psyched to have Hampus Lindholm alongside him for the foreseeable future.

The Boston Bruins acquired Lindholm from the Anaheim Ducks before the NHL trade deadline and promptly signed the defenseman to an eight-year, $52 million contract extension. McAvoy shared his thoughts on the move with NBC Sports Boston's Camera Guys, Glenn and Moose.

"Our defense room, our room as a whole just got a lot better," McAvoy said. "Obviously, to see him get locked up long-term is exciting as well. We're gonna be here for the same duration now which is exciting."

Lindholm logged an assist and four shots on goal last Thursday in his Bruins debut vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning. The strong outing was an encouraging sight for a Boston team that has established itself as a legitimate Cup contender this season.

If the Bruins want to add another D-man at some point, The Camera Guys have someone in mind for Don Sweeney and the front office. They pitched the idea to McAvoy, who seemed to approve.
