BRIGHTON, Mass – The Bruins have taken another hit up front as Jake DeBrusk will be out for Friday night’s game against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesar’s Arena.
DeBrusk suffered a lower body injury while finishing Tuesday night’s loss to the Montreal Canadiens with 17:07 of ice time and won’t be making the trip to Detroit after missing practice on Thursday morning at Warrior Ice Arena.
“DeBrusk is the big one. He played through the game [on Tuesday] with a lower body injury and woke up yesterday not feeling great. So he had it checked out and he’s continuing to get it checked out,” said Bruce Cassidy of DeBrusk, who had scored in each of his two previous games leading into Tuesday night’s showdown with the Habs at the Bell Centre. “He will not travel with us, so we’ll probably have a much better idea when we got a report [on Friday]. [His availability for] Sunday, I have no idea.”
Peter Cehlarik, who has been up and back twice already from Providence this season, replaced DeBrusk on the second line and should be in that spot at puck drop against the Red Wings.
Similarly, David Backes (upper body) was off the ice and won’t play, and Par Lindholm (upper body), Joakim Nordstrom (infection) and Kevan Miller (fractured kneecap) will also not make the trip to Hockeytown after skating in non-contact jerseys on Thursday. It means that both Peter Cehlarik and Zach Senyshyn should be expected to play on Friday after being called back up from Providence ahead of Bruins practice.
Here are the Bruins projected line combos and D-pairings for Friday night’s game in Detroit based on today’s practice:
