Here’s a spin around the hockey world with the best links of the day, and what I’m reading on a lazy hockey Sunday…
*PHT writer Ryan Dadoun has the Florida Panthers and Jaromir Jagr interested in a long-term arrangement, but not ready to talk contract while the focus is on the playoff fight.
*Some good advice for Jack Eichel from a number of former college hockey players on their decision to either stay, or go on to the NHL after a short time playing NCAA hockey.
*Kris Letang was hospitalized after a hit from Arizona Coyotes captain Shane Doan, and it sounds like he’ll be out a while with a concussion. A few views of the replay didn’t reveal anything truly dirty or reckless from Doan: it was a hit that wasn’t very late at all, and the injury was sustained when Letang was knocked off his skates and hit his head on the boards. This one seemed more unfortunate incident than suspension-worthy offense, but that’s just one hockey writer’s opinion. You hope that Letang is going to be okay, obviously, after all that he’s been through.
*Taylor Hall’s return to the Edmonton Oilers gives them some options at this point in the hockey year.
*It would seem that Boston University goaltender Matt O’Connor has some big fans in the Edmonton Oilers scouting staff, according to Marc Spector.
*The headline to this story just should have read “Aaron Ward: Smartest Man in Hockey.” Got to love Wardo.
Boston Bruins
*For something completely different: David Ortiz leaves it all out there in a really well-done piece on the Players Tribune site started by Derek Jeter.
