With the NHL season on hold, 43-year-old Zdeno Chara has had some extra time to ponder his future.
The Boston Bruins captain is the city's oldest athlete by a longshot, and his B's contract is up after the season. Still, Chara doesn't sound like someone who's ready to hang 'em up.
Chara was asked about his future plans Sunday on Sportsnet's "After Hours," and he made it pretty clear he isn't currently leaning toward retiring after the 2019-20 campaign.
“Definitely not getting ahead of myself. I’m still in the present and I still believe that we’re going to play some sort of hockey this season,” Chara said. "But that’s where I’m at. I’m not getting too ahead of myself. Obviously, I still love the game. I still love going out there and compete, and if everything is right, I still want to play.”

That sure sounds like Chara will return for the 2020-2021 season. We'll just have to wait and see whether it'll be with Boston.
Chara and the Bruins were cruising toward the playoffs with the best record in the NHL (44-14-12) before the season was halted due to COVID-19.
