Bruins score three in third, top Devils 4-3

BOSTON -- The Boston Bruins extended their winning streak to six games with a 4-3 win over the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night at TD Garden.

The game remained scoreless until David Clarkson scored on a power play from Petr Sykora and Zach Parise. Four minutes later, Chris Kelly tied the game at 1-1, assisted by Gregory Campbell.

Enter the third period in which the Bruins and Devils engaged in a scoring fest early on, combining for four goals in the first seven minutes. It took Brad Marchand just six seconds to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead with a goal from Zdeno Chara and Patrice Bergeron.

Nick Palmeiri responded with a goal two minutes later (assisted by Andy Greene) to tie the game back up at two apiece, only to have Shawn Thornton score from Jordan Caron and Campbell. (Thorntons goal was his first since April 6, 2011.) Palmeiri answered again with his second goal of the night from Adam Henrique and Parise, his second assist of the game.

Benoit Pouliot scored the winning goal of the evening, assited by Joe Corvo and Rich Peverley, with three minutes to play.

After being outshot 24-19 entering the third period, the Bruins ended the game taking 37 shots to the Devils 30.

Tim Thomas had 31 saves for the Bruins while Johan Hedberg had 36 for the Devils.
