The Boston Bruins took a 5-4 lead in the third period on Tuesday night vs. the Montreal Canadiens. For a moment, anyway.
Montreal challenged Charlie Coyle's clutch goal, claiming the B's forward was offside on the play. It turns out the officials agreed, as the goal was called back and the score remained 4-4.

The call certainly came back to bite the Bruins as the Habs wasted no time taking advantage.
Surely, the B's will have plenty to say about the controversial play if it ends up costing them the game.
UPDATE (10:30 p.m. ET): The offside call indeed doomed the Bruins, who fell 5-4 to the Canadiens.

Head coach Bruce Cassidy explained his "beef" with the call -- and the rule in general -- after the game.
"The rule was specifically put in place for egregious [examples]," Cassidy said. "They were over there for 3 minutes. You think 'What's the purpose of this rule?' Either you find something or you don't...3 minutes. So now you're looking for something to be offsides."
