A very memorable and successful era has come to an end for the Boston Bruins.

Longtime Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask announced his retirement Wednesday evening after 15 seasons with the Original Six club.

Rask returned to the B's in January following his rehab from hip surgery he had in the 2021 offseason. He missed the last two weeks with a lower body injury and made the difficult decision to step away from hockey.

The 34-year-old veteran was one of the NHL's best goaltenders this century, winning the Vezina Trophy in 2013-14 and dominating the Bruins' record book.

The Bruins posted an emotional tribute video for Rask after his announcement. Check it out in the tweet below:

Rask has a Hall of Fame-worthy resume and deserves to have his No. 40 retired to the rafters at TD Garden someday. He was instrumental in the success the Bruins enjoyed over the last 15 years.
