Claude Julien said upon his Saturday return to Bruins training camp that cuts would be forthcoming, and the B’s made a large amount of dismissals from their NHL camp on Sunday afternoon.

Veteran winger Peter Mueller was released from his PTO with the Bruins after a couple of decent preseason performances at the start of training camp, and young prospects Jeremy Lauzon, Jakub Zboril, Zachary Senyshyn and Jesse Gabrielle were returned to their respective junior hockey teams for another year of development.

More than Mueller’s decent performance, his cut from camp probably represents just how good Danton Heinen and Jake DeBrusk have been as both players continue to compete for open wing spots with the Black and Gold. Likewise, Brandon Carlo is still pushing for a job among the D-men corps with two strong preseason games under his belt.

Forwards Anton Blidh, Colby Cave, Peter Cehlarik, Colton Hargrove, Justin Hickman, defensemen Linus Arnesson, Matt Grzelcyk and goaltenders Zane McIntyre and Dan Vladar were all sent to the AHL with Providence Bruins camp set to begin on Monday. In addition, defensemen Chris Casto, Tommy Cross and Alex Grant were placed on waivers for the purpose of likewise being sent to Providence for AHL training camp, and forwards Mark Naclerio, A.J. White, defensemen Josh Atkinson, Chris Breen, Alex Roach, and goaltender Matt Ginn were also released from camp to report to Providence on Monday.

In all 23 players were cut from NHL training camp on Sunday with three preseason games left to go prior to Boston’s Oct. 13 season opener against Columbus, and now camp is down to a manageable group under 30 players with Zdeno Chara, Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand and Christian Ehrhoff set to get started on Monday.
