Boston teams hosting championship Game 7 have had mixed success

In a city with a rich sports tradition like Boston's, it may surprise you that Wednesday night will mark the first time the Bruins have hosted a Game 7 in a Stanley Cup Final.

In fact, it's only the second Cup Final Game 7 ever in B's franchise history, the other being a riot-inducing win in Vancouver over the Canucks in 2011.

But it shouldn't surprise you that the Bruins' sports brethren are a bit more experienced. Boston has hosted a total of seven* championship Game 7s among its major professional sports teams over the years, and as you'll notice, there's a stark difference in success based on the franchise involved.

Who should the Bruins choose to emulate when the St. Louis Blues come to TD Garden on Wednesday night? Let's look back on those seven Game 7s, starting with the most recent contest.

*The number is eight if you count the Red Sox hosting "Game 8" of the 1912 World Series ... More on that later.
