2020 NHL Draft: B's take future BC forward in third round

The Boston Bruins' second pick in the 2020 NHL Draft will be playing just down the road from his future club this season.

The Bruins used their No. 89 overall pick in the third round Wednesday to draft 19-year-old center Trevor Kuntar, who has committed to play at Boston College this winter.

A native of Williamsville, N.Y. (where ex-Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski grew up), Kuntar spent the 2019-20 season with the Youngstown Phantoms and finished 10th in the USHL in scoring with 53 points (28 goals, 25 assists) in 44 games.

The 6-foot, 203-pound Kuntar also ranked second on the Phantoms in penalty minutes and brings a blend of talent and competitiveness that should fit well in Boston.

Kuntar initially committed to Harvard but changed that commitment to the Eagles in July.

The Bruins now have drafted two American-born players with their first two picks in Kuntar and Wisconsin native Mason Lohrei.
