If this whole football thing doesn’t work out for Rob Gronkowski, he may have a backup plan in mind.
In an interview with KUSI News in San Diego, Gronk’s friend, WWE’s Mojo Rawley, says the Patriots tight end has made it clear that he wants to step into a wrestling ring.
“Trust me we've had that conversation many times, me and Gronk,” said Rawley. “He’s dying to get in the ring. I can tell you it won't be while he's in season. He’s got to focus”
Rawley, whose real name is Dean Muhtadi, is a friend of the Gronkowski family. He was an underrated free agent defensive lineman who participated in training camps with the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals before becoming a professional wrestler.
While it’s unlikely Gronk would step into the ring with Belichick watching, he wouldn’t be the first notable NFL player to step into a WWE ring. Lawrence Taylor (Wrestlemania XI) and William “refrigerator” Perry (Wrestlemania 2) both made appearances at WWE’s biggest event.
