Will Rob Gronkowski, Devin McCourty retire? Krafts offer different answers

The New England Patriots' elder statesman already declared his intentions of playing next season.

Some of Tom Brady's younger teammates? Not so much.

Both Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski and safety Devin McCourty admitted (in certain terms) they're unsure of whether they'll retire following Super Bowl LIII against the Los Angeles Rams. Team owner Robert Kraft and his son, team president Jonathan Kraft, joined Boston Sports Tonight on Tuesday and were asked if they thought Sunday would be the last NFL game for either player.

Here were their responses:

Jonathan: "It could be anybody's last game, right?"

Robert: "I sure hope that it's not. But to be honest, we're only focused on Sunday."

Jonathan: "But any game could be anybody's last game -- a rookie to a 20-year veteran."

Jonathan likely was trying to downplay the retirement rumors in his own way by pointing out the uncertainty of NFL life. No player's future is guaranteed, after all.

But Robert didn't seem to enjoy that tactic, cutting in to insist he'd very much like to see Gronkowski, 29, and McCourty, 31, in Patriots uniforms next season.

While their players' decisions are out of their hands, the Krafts did address their own futures, insisting they plan on keeping their "power trio" with Brady and head coach Bill Belichick intact.
